The Return | Healing Through Food, Ritual, and Rest.

For melanated women ready to reset, reconnect, and return to themselves.

Who We Are

A circular logo featuring a snake coiled around the words 'TRH' in large letters and 'The Return Heals' beneath.

The Return is an embodied healing space for women who are learning to slow down, listen inward, and reconnect with themselves—through food, ritual, and rest.

While this work was born from grief, it is not limited to grief.

The Return is for women navigating transition, growth, and becoming—whether that comes from loss, change, expansion, or simply living in a world that asks us to stay constantly “on.”

This is not about fixing yourself.
It’s not about pushing through.
And it’s not about becoming someone new.

It’s about returning to your body.
Returning to your own rhythm.
Returning to what feels true.

Through intentional nourishment, embodied practices, and restorative experiences, The Return creates space to regulate the nervous system, soften the body, and reconnect with self—at your own pace.

This work is grounded in the belief that healing is not just emotional or spiritual—it is physical, too. What you consume, how you move, and how you rest all shape your ability to feel safe, present, and aligned.

Grief may be one doorway.
But embodiment, nourishment, and trust are lifelong practices.

If your body is asking you to slow down, listen more closely, and move with intention—you belong here.

This is your invitation to return to yourself.

The Return is a healing space for melanated women—created to support your return to self through food, ritual, and rest. Founded by Surayyah Tatum Bey.

Through intentional nourishment and restorative experiences, we create space for you to slow down, reconnect with your body, and return to yourself. This is your invitation to come back home—to your body, your rhythm, and your truth.

Founder’s Story | Surayyah Tatum Bey

The Return was born from lived experience—not theory.

I’ve always felt called to pour into women, especially those of us raised in environments where survival often comes before softness—and where rest, reflection, and healing aren’t always accessible or modeled.

My own path of becoming has stretched me in every direction—mentally, physically, spiritually, and financially. It’s required me to slow down, question what I was taught about strength, and listen more closely to what my body and spirit were asking for.

After losing my husband, I took a mental health and wellness leave that became a turning point. By giving myself permission to pause—to feel instead of push—I began to reconnect with my voice, my intuition, and my body in a deeper way.

That season didn’t just change me—it clarified my calling.

What became clear was this:
Many wellness and healing spaces weren’t built with us in mind.

Too often, healing is presented in ways that feel disconnected from our lived realities—requiring a certain language, aesthetic, or performance in order to belong.

But our healing doesn’t require performance.
And it doesn’t require us to disconnect from ourselves to access it.

It requires us to return.

To our bodies.
To our rhythm.
To what truly nourishes us.

That’s where The Return lives.

The Return is my offering—not as someone who has it all figured out, but as someone walking this path in real time. A space rooted in embodiment, nourishment, and emotional honesty.

My background spans over 15 years in global culture, DEI, employee experience, and wellbeing strategy across tech and media. Today, that experience meets lived healing through The Return—where I design experiences that support the nervous system, center the body, and make room for softness without disconnection.

Through food, ritual, rest, and restorative experiences, I create the kinds of spaces I wish had existed sooner—spaces that are grounded, accessible, and deeply human.

Spaces where healing isn’t abstract.
Where your body is included.
Where you’re allowed to slow down and simply be.

This work is meant to be sustainable, yes—but more importantly, it’s meant to be truthful.

Healing doesn’t require perfection.
It requires presence.
And the willingness to return to yourself.

This is my return.
And I’m creating space for yours. Join me.

If this resonates, you belong here.

A Memoir … Coming Soon.

Born in New York City and raised in a one-bedroom apartment with my mother, grandmother, and two younger sisters, I grew up learning how to live between worlds — private school by day, food stamps and skipped meals by night. From an early age, I learned how to adapt, how to carry weight quietly, and how to make sense of contrast.

This memoir traces my journey through childhood, abandonment, survival, love, motherhood, loss, and the long, quiet work of becoming. It explores what it means to live in a body shaped by responsibility, lineage, and resilience — and how we return to ourselves after years of holding everything together. This is not just a story about grief.

It is a story about integration. About identity. About remembering who you were before survival became a way of life.

Written alongside the healing work I now offer through The Return — including circles, rituals, retreats, and sacred storytelling — this book is an invitation.

Not to fix what’s been lived, but to sit with it. To honor it. And to gently come home to the self that endured it all.

This is my return.

And an open doorway for yours.

Follow my journey of returning to myself—through food, healing, and intentional living. Through storytelling, reflection, and curated experiences—including travel, nourishment, and rest—I share what it looks like to reconnect with your body and move through life with more presence and intention.
